Prevention is so much better than having to cure and quarantining is 95% of prevention. A newly acquired specimens should be kept separately for at least 30 days at temperatures at the high end of their tolerance scale and no contact should take place between the keeper and other snakes after dealing with the quarantined reptile. i.e. the quarantined reptile should be dealt with last after all others have been seen too. Quarantining should preferably be done in separate room if not a separate building as mites can travel substantial distances. |
